SEEING FEMALE-DOMINANT MODEL IN PERSPECTIVE

FEMALE ACHIEVEMENTS HAVE BLOOMED AND BLOSSOMED IN VARIOUS ARENAS OF HUMAN ACTIVITIES.

For about a decade, I have discerned the subtle but significant emergence of the female-dominant model of society in some important parts of the world. In the West and some countries in the East, the female species have gained some pretty impressive grounds in the arts, sports, politics, social, education and economic arenas over the last two decades. This emergence of the female-dominant model has been greatly aided and enhanced by the emergence of the computer and the internet age, the mass media as well as the knowledge economy. These and other significant factors have liberated women from the shackles of their traditional roles resulting in a paradigm shift that focuses on the power of knowledge, creativity, and mind assets much more than the physical strength & raw courage of the male species. The time has arrived for women to assert their rightful roles in the development of our modern civilization.

The way I see it, the male and female are the two essential facets of the human species- the yin and the yang, the right and the left, the soft and the hard etc. The significant shift towards the female dominant model has started only about two decades ago. The dramatic changing social values have been translated into the changing of some legal rules that define the boundary of acceptable gender interpersonal relationships. Only older people are able to discern such dramatic shifts because they are living in virtually two different eras with significant changing criteria governing acceptable social behavior towards the feminine gender. Relatively new legal terms such as sexual harassment, molesting etc have gained prominence in recent times.

The way I see it, modern civilization is becoming more mature and fair to give the feminine gender her rightful roles in the various arenas of society. The modern male gender has inherited a negative emotional legacy from past generations which have inflicted enormous damage and wounded self-esteem to the other half of humanity.

IT IS HIGH TIME TO RELEASE THE WOMEN FROM THE SHACKLES OF TRADITIONS & CONVENTIONAL SOCIAL & RELIGIOUS CONSTRAINTS.

Just ponder on the progress of humanity since recorded human civilization began. What has male political leadership achieved for humanity? We had terrible cruel leaders in the past symbolized by Genghis Khan and recent modern leaders represented by Hitler and others. Sad to say, our past political leaders had succeeded in bringing about massive catastrophes in the form of non-stop tsunamis of horrible wars that caused untold sufferings and deaths in every century.

Just ponder on the other dimensions of human activities in the fields of finance, religion, customs and traditions, medicine, culture, etc. What do we see? AIDS has been primarily disseminated by the male species. Look at the 2009 financial crisis, again we see the massive greediness of the male CEOs of global banks causing massive disruptions and unemployment. Look at the persecution and injustices, female infanticides inflicted on the female gender through the centuries by male-designed traditions and customs that have enslaved the female species for most of human recorded history. I could have written a book on this topic of the terrible injustice inflicted by one key segment of humanity against another key segment where the only dividing boundary based on gender. It appears to me that this present Western male-dominated model of society may need the mellowing and loving touch of the gentle female leadership to make our society more humane and compassionate, more balanced, harmonious and tranquil with less wars and more peace.

DOES THE EMERGING FEMALE-DOMINANT MODEL OF SOCIETY AUGUR A BRIGHTER FUTURE FOR HUMANITY?

I believe that with the emergence of more female leaders, women would be able to play a more meaningful and effective role in disseminating the unconditional love of God. In God’s creation, nothing happens by accident. Is this dramatic and very significant paradigm shift an important part of God’s design to make our broken world a better one? Ponder on it and reflect on the implications in your world. On this International Women’s Day, on a micro level, I wish to extend my personal apologies for my thoughts, words and deeds in my life that might have contributed, intentionally or unwittingly, in adding to the sufferings & collective woundedness of the women in my world. On the other hand, I wish to express my admiration and gratitude to my deceased mom, my dear wife, my daughter, my god-daughter and my former English Language lecturer for being the primary sources of inspiration in my life.
